Procedures to get a director ID

Please be advised that you are required by ASIC to obtain director ID before setting up a company.

A director ID number will be a 15-digit number that starts with 036, the 3-digit code for  Australia. This measure is intended to reduce fraud and other illegal activity. Kindly follow the below-mentioned steps to apply and submit your application in relation to the same.  

 To apply, you must:  

1. Set up your MyGov ID login, ensuring you achieve standard or strong identity strength, and download the relevant phone application. Kindly refer to the link to set up your MyGov ID – https://www.mygovid.gov.au/set-up

2. Prepare your documentation as evidence of your personal identification. This  documentation must be verifiable by the ATO and will include the following:  – Tax File Number (TFN),  

• a) Driver’s Licence  
• b) Passport  
• c) Medicare Card/ImmiCard  
• d) Residential address as held by the ATO, and  
• e) Any two of the following personal information documents:  

• Bank Account Statement  
• ATO Notice of Assessment  
• Superannuation Statement  
• Dividend Statement  
• Centrelink Payment Summary  
• PAYG Payment Summary  

3. Once your MyGovID is set up, you can log in and apply for your Director ID online. Refer to  the following link to apply for your Director ID- Link
